The Journey Begins

I am loathed to admit it, but one of the only things I have not been remotely successful at is losing weight. Now, there are plenty of things that I know I am not good at (singing, acting, drawing, playing a musical instrument) – however, most things I am able to tackle with the right amount of determination, will power, and sweat equity. Yet, losing weight (and keeping it off) usually seem right out of my reach, as if the Universe is taunting me –  like Lucy does with Charlie Brown and the football.  However, I am a stubborn redhead who will not take no for an answer, and that is where this blog comes into play.

I woke up this morning, and as I was getting dressed for work, I noticed that my “fat pants” were too tight. “WTH?!?!  This is unacceptable!” I yelled at myself in the full-length mirror. The pants suit that has been my fallback when all of my other pants were too tight, were now too tight. For the last 5 years, one thing has always been constant, when nothing else fit, these beautifully cut and tailored pants with its wide legs and crisp, flat pockets would fit like a glove. Either it would sit low on my hips or a little higher on my waist, but either way, I would look polished and feel like a million bucks. Sadly, those days are gone. The bloody pants would not even button. Ugh! And it was in this moment that I realized it was finally time to make some positive changes in my life and finally lose the extra hundred (okay, hundred and thirty) pounds that I am carrying around.

So, I made the commitment to join Weight Watchers and journal/blog about my experience.  If blogging could help me get through three years of law school, it can most certainly get me through my weight loss journey.
